Epsom sits under the Downs that carry its name, with Ewell and Stoneleigh alongside it, Ashtead and Leatherhead to the south, and Banstead and Tadworth across on the other side of the racecourse.

They look like one place from a train window and they are not, at least not administratively. Epsom and Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead, and Banstead and Tadworth fall under three different borough and district councils, so bin days, car park charges and planning registers differ depending on which of them you live in. Epsom Today covers all three and names the right authority every time, working from the published record and linking to the document on each fact.

  • Epsom house prices: £568,755 on average in May 2026, up 2.9% while Surrey as a whole fell, and the borough is now second dearest of the eleven Surrey districts.
  • Trains to London: Waterloo in about 40 minutes, Victoria in 44, London Bridge in 43, and what a season costs from each of the borough’s six stations.
  • Roadworks and parking: Hook Road is shut at East Street while the gas mains are renewed to the end of 2026, plus every council car park and what it charges.
  • Things to do: six places that cost nothing, the four racedays left this season, and what Hobbledown actually charges.
  • Planning: the Local Plan is at examination, the council has put another 1,130 homes forward, and the inspector is deciding.

Every fact carries a link to the source it came from.
